Install an eSIM on iPhone
Works on iPhone XS, XR and later with iOS 16 or newer. The iPhone must be carrier-unlocked.
- Wi-Fi connection
- iPhone XS / XR or later
- Carrier-unlocked (Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions)
Install now, activate later
Installing doesn't start your plan for most plans; validity starts when the eSIM first connects in a covered destination. Each plan page states this.
Install with a QR code
- 1Connect to Wi-Fi.
- 2Open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular / Mobile Data, depending on your region).
- 3Tap Add eSIM.
- 4Tap Use QR Code.
- 5Scan the QR code from your order email or account, shown on another screen.
- 6Follow the prompts. When asked, label the line “Wayline Travel”.
- 7Choose your primary line for calls and iMessage, and set Wayline Travel for Mobile Data.
Install manually (no camera needed)
- 1Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
- 2Tap Enter Details Manually.
- 3Paste the SM-DP+ Address and the Activation Code exactly as shown in your account. Leave Confirmation Code blank.
Buying on the same phone you'll install on
- 1On iOS 17.4 or later, open your eSIM in your Wayline account on this iPhone and tap “Install on this iPhone”. iOS opens the installer directly.
- 2Alternatively, copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code, then use Enter Details Manually.
When you land
- 1Settings → Mobile Service → Wayline Travel → turn on This Line.
- 2Turn on Data Roaming for the Wayline Travel line.
- 3Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data → select Wayline Travel.
- 4Optional: turn off Data Roaming on your home line to avoid home-carrier charges.
After installing
- Keep the Wayline line switched off until you arrive if you prefer.
- Don't delete the eSIM; it usually can't be reinstalled.
